Tự do hóa tài khoản vốn, bất định vĩ mô và vốn hóa thị trường chứng khoán tại các thị trường mới nổi châu Á

Trần Văn Trung

Tóm tắt:

Mục tiêu nghiên cứu: Nghiên cứu nhằm đánh giá tác động của tự do hóa (TDH) tài khoản vốn và bất định vĩ mô đến vốn hóa thị trường chứng khoán (TTCK) của các thị trường mới nổi châu Á.
Thiết kế nghiên cứu/phương pháp/tiếp cận: Nghiên cứu sử dụng mô hình PVAR, ước lượng tham số bằng phương pháp mô men tổng quát (GMM).

Capital Account Liberalization, Macro Uncertainty and Stock Market Capitalization in Emerging Markets of Asia

Abstract:

Purpose: The study aims to examine the impact of capital account liberalization and macro uncertainty on stock market capitalization of Asian emerging markets.
Design/methodology/approach: The study uses the PVAR model, estimating parameters using the generalized method of moments (GMM). The research data is based on annual frequency from 2008 to 2023 of 08 Asian countries classified as emerging stock markets.
Findings: The results of the study show that capital account liberalization has a significant and statistically significant positive short-term impact on stock market capitalization. Macroeconomic uncertainty has a negative impact on stock market capitalization when unexpected shocks occur.
Originality/value: The research results contribute evidence on the positive impact of capital account liberalization in Asian emerging markets. However, macroeconomic stability remains a key condition to maintain the positive impact of liberalization.
